The PhonoGraph 60 integrated amplifier consists of four basic functional blocks. The preamplifier and inverter (phase inverter) are built around an ECC 82 tube. The preamplifier is directly coupled to the phase inverter, operating in a split-load configuration characterized by very high symmetry. Signals from the phase inverter are not fed directly to the output stage, but an intermediate stage is used, a symmetrical differential amplifier circuit based on an ECC 99 tube. This design ensures that the output stage receives a high-amplitude, low-distortion signal.
The output stage is built around the legendary 6L6 GC beam tetrodes and operates in class AB1 (the first grids operate only in the negative voltage range). Up to 10W output power, the tubes operate in pure class A. The output stage is coupled to the output transformer in an ultra-linear configuration.
HAMMOND output transformers are constructed using multi-layer EI tubes with carefully selected core cross-sections, ensuring excellent low- and high-frequency response.
The output stage tubes operate with automatic bias current stabilization (AUTO BIAS), ensuring stable operation of the amplifier throughout its lifespan, completely eliminating the need for any user adjustments or checks.
The amplifier utilizes tubes currently manufactured by JJ-Electronic, with the exception of the EM84 RFT (NOS) tubes used as drive level indicators.
The input stage utilizes a dust-proof ALPS potentiometer controlled by an infrared microcontroller, compatible with any IR remote control compatible with the RC5 coding standard.
